People fear new, they like stability, new is disruptive, the only way the can embrce new is either out of utter fear (wars, crisys) or because the peer ressure is so huge that not embracing new means they will feel left behing, ridiculed, made redundant in society, hence out of fear.
Think how most new things that catched up actually came to be acceptd and carved... Tesla, IPhone, Computres, Windows (Why Linux is not catcing up? No pubblicity, that is why) anything...
