First at the time was absolutely legal for everybody to have a sword, even recommended for home protection and while traveling. Best if a military grade sword, not a low quality iron one.

At the time making a garment of Linen meant you had to plow one hectare, seed linen seeds, pluck weeds for a whole summer, bring water to irigate it if neded by horse and cart, scythe the linen plants when ready for harvest, process them into fibers, and process fibers into thread, that was a whole year of work worth of wages.

Than make the thread into fabric, by hand, line by line, that was another month of wages.

Than you could finally make garment out of that fabric, trousers, shirt, overcoat, socks, hat.

So we talk here of one and a half year of wage for a garment. What that money buys you today? Say you make a meager 2000 USD a month, we talk here 24000 USD worth of money, that is a cheap car, or a damn good second hand car.

What weapons could you buy today with that money, and how much ammo?

You could buy yourself a 50 BMG by Serbu or Beretta plus a load of ammo.

You could buy an Accuracy International and a truck of ammo.

You could buy the best AR15 and a Staccato or a Laugo Alien Remus and thousands of rounds of ammo for both calibers.

That is the quality of sword Jesus told them to buy, not flimsy blades single use; like criminals do. Damascus steel sword he advised them to buy.

And there are other mighty weapons you can buy and use today, like education, not the woke kind, but real one, like law, and economics and taxes, and use it to stick batons into the government whelles spokes at your convenience, put rotten police, judges, prosecutors and tax people in jail, expose government illegalities and local adminstration abuses and throw them in jai; now those are powerful weapons too, they have them and use them against you, why shouldn't you have them too and throw them in jail and melt the keys so they never get out again?

So judging you by your comment you certainly never read the bible in the original languages, do not know the culture of those that wrote each text, have no clue about the context, hate anybody that is straight and christian and working class that wants to be able to defend themselves form evil doers.
