With a debt based economy it's arguable we have a sin based economy.

Money is debt, money is a token as evidence of debt of the one whom has emitted them towards the one whom received them.

Money is not wealth, if I give you land, products, my time, that is wealth I gave you, and you give me a trading token in exchange, that does not make me wealthy, makes me holder of some obligations of yours in my pocket, you are wealthy, you have my products, I have money, a reminder of your debt with me, until I get rid of said debt in exchange o some real wealth they can burn anytime and I am left with no evidence you owe me something.
